Students will be placed as close to their geographic area of choice, when available

Students who are not in good academic standing / passing at the end of week 10 may be in jeopardy of not retaining their externship placement.

The Certificate Program is 373.5 total clock hours, designed to prepare graduates as medical assistants who are multi-skilled healthcare professionals who perform administrative and clinical tasks, manage emergency situations, communicate effectively, and provide instruction to patients, thus performing as integral healthcare team members.

All Medical Assisting students must complete an unpaid 80+-hour externship experience at local medical practices during the program. All clinical skills must be successfully passed and documented prior to externship placement. In addition, students cannot replace absent employees at externship.

This program is designed to qualify students to take their national certification in medical assisting through an examination accredited by NCCA;

American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
Upon completing the program, the graduate is prepared for entry-level positions in the healthcare field as a medical assistant working in clinical and/or administrative settings under the supervision of a licensed practitioner (as approved by individual State policies).
